A sober recovery forumcan be a big help to those who are on their way to living life in sobriety and free of addictions. These forums understand how hard it is to let go of the life you were once used to. But even harder, having to deal with it alone.

sober recovery forum

That is why the sober recov ery forum was created to provide a venue for members who were just starting with their journey to recovery, as well as those who have trudged the difficult path towards an addiction free life, to share their experiences and shed some life on the issues leading to addiction.

Sober Recovery: A difficult phase

Sober recovery is the most difficult phase in the recovery process. This could make or break your chances of making it through life without succumbing to your previous lifestyle. Once you step out of the facility, you will have to face the world full of temptations once again, with only you to make the decisions for yourself.

This void they feel, coupled with the regrets of losing their loved ones to their addiction can contribute to the clients’ depression and lack of concentration, which can be apparent in NA, AA and 12-step meetings.

But luckily, you do not have to go through the process by yourself. Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Drug Rehab can help you in the on your way to addiction recovery. They offer after-care programs as well as meetings for you to be able to express your insights and experiences to others who, like you, are also going through the same difficult phase. The Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Rehab Center can also send a staff along with you to assist you in moving back to your old life free of any addictions. They can also be made available anytime.

For information on Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Recovery programs and facilities, you may contact them at 866-515-5032. You may even visit the Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Treatment’s website, www.bigislandtreament.com

Sober Recover Forum: Why joining is important

AA and NA meetings may not be available anytime in some areas, making it difficult for you to look for a venue to share and seek advice from fellow members who are undergoing the sober recovery process. That is why joining a sober recovery forum online can allow you to join these meetings without the hassle of commuting.

A sober recovery forum also lets you share your experiences in anonymity. People who are in higher positions in a company can benefit from this as this could protect their identity and reputation. A sober recovery forum also has a higher reach, compared to meetings within your area. You can connect with people from different states, or even different countries and share your experiences and insights with them. It is also a good opportunity for you to meet new friends and expand your network.

Addiction treatment facilities, big and small, can also get a chance to be featured in these forums. They will also be getting reliable testimonials from members who have been in their facilities and made use of their services. They may even post schedules of NA, AA and 12-step meeting schedules in their local areas for those who would want to visit one themselves.

Another good thing about joining a sober recovery forumis you can create groups depending on your preference and beliefs. There are different forums available for men, women, bikers, LGBT or even non-secular members who prefer to follow methods, which are more akin to their religious beliefs.

Family members, too can benefit from joining a sober recovery forum. As addictions can afflict a member’s loved ones as much as the member per se, these forums can help them share their insights and ask for support and advice from other families in coping with their struggles.

You do not have to deal with this alone

The whole point with the establishment of a sober recovery forum is that no one has to deal with all these alone. There will always be someone who’s going through the same emotional roller coaster and may need someone to share their insights to.

Apart from that, distance may not always be an issue when seeking comfort from someone who has been through all that as well as someone who is still going through the same difficulties.

Cyberspace has made it easier for support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) to extend their help to a wide range of people afflicted with substance abuse as well as the loved ones who are most affected. Apart from that, it is a lot more convenient for people who have a busy schedule ahead to visit an NA, AA or 12-step meeting.

A good sober recovery forum will be a big help in transitioning to a normal and sober lifestyle. Take advantage of people who have been through the same situations as yourself and who now know the lay of the land. There are many good people who are willing to become sponsors and who can be your biggest cheerleaders.

Let’s face it, the difference between success and failure in addiction recovery depends on how strong your support group is. Join many and choose wisely. The best sober recovery forum is the one you will attend whenever you feel the need to talk or to reach out. A good one will be like a second home to you. And who better to help you than friends and family!

The term drug is used to refer to any chemical or substance that has the capacity to alter normal bodily function after being absorbed by the body. Pharmaceutical drugs or commonly known as medicines are substances used to treat, cure or prevent a disease. As long as taken in proper dosage or amount, drugs are generally considered to be beneficial because they are helpful in improving our body conditions. If misused or abused by the user, drugs will cause harm and may even lead to death if left untreated. If you want to know more about drugs of abuse and its effects, you can rely on the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to help you enlighten about such issues.

National Institute On Drug Abuse

The National Institute on Drug Abuse, established by the Congress in 1974, is a federal scientific research institute under the National Institute of Health which is then a component of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Through various scientific researches, they help us to have a better understanding about drug addiction and treatment. The researches made by NIDA are provided to policy makers, health care professionals and of course for the general public.

Based from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, substances most commonly used for addiction are tobacco, alcohol, cannabinoids, opioids, stimulants, club drugs and hallucinogens. To be able to stop people from being dependent to these substances, NIDA have established 13 fundamental principles of drug addiction treatment.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse stated on their first principle that addiction is a complex but treatable disease which affects brain functions and behavior. This principle then becomes the basis for their next principles. Since this is a complex disease where each client has its own different case, there is no single treatment appropriate for all of them. But even though treatment is different for each client, it must be readily available for them. It must attend not only on his or her drug abuse but to his or her multiple needs as well. Aside from physiological treatment, issues which involve the client’s psychological, social, vocational and even legal problems must also be given attention.

To be able to make a treatment effective, the National Institute on Drug Abuse also stated that time is a critical factor and a period of at least 3 months is needed to produce a visible result. The longer the duration of the treatment, the better is the outcome. The first step of treatment which is detoxification is not enough, it may help the client reduce the amount of substance in his or her body but it is only the beginning of a series of treatment the client will undergo.

During the treatment, medication alongside with counseling is an effective combination to help the client free him/herself from addiction. Because this disease is complex and chronic, the treatment must also be continuous, where treatment and plan must be continually assessed and modified when needed to provide the changing needs of the client. Also during the treatment, careful monitoring must be made especially the drug intake of the client to avoid lapses from happening.

Only a few are probably aware of this, the National Institute on Drug Abuse also stated drug addiction often co-occurs with other psychological disorders and must also be included in the treatment. . Drug addiction is also associated with other infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, hepatitis B and C and also HIV/AIDS and its presence must also be checked. A person willing to treat his or herself is a big help especially to therapists though treatment does not necessarily need to be voluntary for it to be effective, as stated on one of the principles given by the National Institute on Drug Abuse

From these principles provided by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, one of the treatment approaches which is medication is already mentioned. But aside from medication, another approach is through behavioral treatment and under this approach; there is what we call a residential treatment program. The residential treatment program as a means to help the client is effective especially if it involves severe problems. The clients stay in a community for 6 to 12 months and the focus of those therapeutic living centers is to make the client gain back his or her life by living a lifestyle free from drugs and crime.

If it is a new environment that a client is looking for, there is a therapeutic living center located in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii known as Hawaii Island Recovery. Taking into considerations the principles set by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Hawaii Island Recovery is a Hawaii rehab, which aims to treat each client uniquely with their custom-designed approaches. This Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Addiction Treatment Center is located 3,000 miles away from everything and everyone making Hawaii Island Recovery a good and perhaps the only option for the client to heal his or herself as he/she works on his/her drug addiction problems.

If you or a loved one is suffering from addiction please call Hawaii Island Recovery at 866-906-9611.

A cycle is a process that returns to its beginning and repeats itself in the same sequence until it is broken by an outside force or a circumstance. So how does a cycle of addiction happen? Let us remember that drugs or substances that a person gets addicted to are painkillers ñ that is the drug kills the unhappiness, the sense of hopelessness, or physical pain that the addict is experiencing.

The Cycle of Addiction can be illustrated as follows:

• A person experiences a problem, a sense of unhappiness or hopelessness ñ it can happen to anyone regardless of gender or age. It can be a teenager not knowing what do once he is rejected by his object of affection and love or a grandmother not having any connection with family and is unhappy and isolated or a person whose career is has felt the affects of the economy and going nowhere despite hard work or past glories.

• This person seeks alternative ways to solve the problem by turning to alcohol or drugs. The alcohol or drug makes the person feel better and because the person seems to cope with life better, the drug or alcohol becomes the constant relieving companion.

• The person eventually increases the intake of drug or alcohol and is finally trapped into the habit. At this point, the initial point of solving the problem is taken over by the want to take drug or alcohol. Addiction sets in and the person loses the control on the use of the drug or alcohol and disregards the negative consequences of the addiction.

• The addict will by all means try to keep his addiction to himself and will become withdrawn from friends and family suffering the consequences of his dishonesty and guilt. The more he drinks or uses the drug, the more depressed and guilty he becomes. The strain of addiction will surface losing personal integrity, severing relationships with friends and family, and job or school performance will drastically go down the hill.

• In this stage, the drug or alcohol is the most important thing in the life of the addict. They takes more and more as his body gets used to the high feeling and their body adapts to the chemical presence in his system. The person now takes drug or alcohol to be able to function at all.

• The cravings for drug or alcohol set in and the addict will experience an overwhelming obsession to taking and getting the stuff at all cost to avoid the pain of withdrawing.

• As the addiction to drug or alcohol progresses, the addict increasingly becomes haggard and ill-tempered. They will experience mood swings that can be mistaken for mental illness. The addict may have drug-induced or alcohol-related depression.

• At this point, the addict is at dismal downward trend that he finds themselves in a heap of problems but would like to appear normal to his friends and family. They could not figure out whether they wants to stop or not. They know they have a problem but can’t figure out how to cope with it. The drug or alcohol he becomes dependent to have changed him physically and mentally. Addictive think has kicked in.

In order to break the cycle of addiction, the addict must admit that there is indeed a problem and he is willing to get support and tackle the recovery process. Opening up to a qualified medical practitioner for advice and getting a support group. And realizing that the recovery program entails a lot of sacrifices and cooperation before the end result will be achieved. The addict must understand that it takes time to completely return to the normal life that he lost due to alcohol or drug abuse. Even then life will normal be normal. The addict will have to learn to manage their addiction through therapy.

People can break the cycle of addiction. Recovering addicts may attempt to break the cycle of addiction on their own, that is great but if you find it hard to do it on your own, which is very hard and potentially dangerous. There are caring and compassionate health care professionals, addiction treatment centers and sober living houses where specially trained individuals can safely handle your specific case. The human touch and the human connection is very essential to recovery.

There are several treatments that lead to the achievement of breaking the cycle of addiction such as residential treatment programs. The process usually includes a safe medical detox. Sudden triggers and withdrawal at times produce serious consequences. Being in a safe environment helps you tremendously to break the cycle of addiction. Once detoxed, specifically designed rehabilitation therapy programs such as the Big Island of Hawaii Rehab at Hawaii Island Recovery can help you learn about addictive thinking and addiction management.

Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Recovery center will offer the client a support group that promises to deliver the human caring and understanding that an addict on the road to recovery desperately seeks. Always remember that the cycle of addiction can be broken by hard work and discipline. Also sacrifices and vigilance are required, too. It is sometimes a steep climb and yet some days become easier to bear. Remember…One day at a time.

Recognition that the cycle of addiction must be broken is a big topic of all recovery programs. Being true and honest and leaving people, places and things that got you into the cycle of addiction in the first place is sometimes hard, especially if the recovering addict must go back to the community. But helping another recovering addict is sometimes the best way to help yourself!

So start on your recovery or to help a friend or a family member start a fruitful recovery in breaking the cycle of addiction, call Hawaii Island Recovery at 866-906-6911. Hawaii Island Recovery will more than welcome you on your road to a meaningful recovery. They will give you your life back.

The main thing about addiction diagnosis is that you can’t assume you know what you are talking about.

The main thing about addiction diagnosis is that you can’t assume you know what you are talking about. This is because there are many more elements to it than a wild few days spent away from family. Drug addiction is dangerous, and that’s a fact. There are so many people that get affected with an addict in the family. It’s not joke either, people get hurt because of the selfish actions of one person. This is because people are most likely feel pain more and more each day living with the burdens of those that don’t feel them. It goes beyond the emotional. There are so many factors that fall into the laps of the loved ones. Even though it’s more emotionally draining to deal with an addict, it’s also draining is other aspects. This is why an addiction diagnosis also goes beyond just the medical.

As a person who has a drug addiction problem, or even just a loved making an effort to change, there are some consequences that come questions that you might want to ask. These questions and consequences will inevitably lead you to finding something akin to Hawaii Island recovery’s addiction treatment center’s style. But before we discuss the addiction treatment center options, you’ll have to learn about the consequences. You have to ask yourself the right questions, and once you finally know what to do, action is all that is left.

Now you may be wondering about the random mentioning of Hawaii Island Recovery’s big island treatment program. Well, in your search to learn about the diagnosis of addiction, you have to know the many options available to help. There are many types substance abuse addiction, but the thing here is that you have to find the center that has an extensive batch of addiction treatment and addiction recovery plans. That way each base is covered and ensured. But for now, you need to learn to answer your questions. Before you start looking for addiction ecovery, you have to look for the right inspiration.

In great addiction treatment programs, they tell you about their programs to aid you in finding that inspiration. What matters here is that their programs will line up with what you need them to do. However, for an addict, there is no longer an easy path to be taken. Breaking the habit is never easy; this is why you might want to ask yourself a few questions before admitting yourself into an addiction program like the one offered at Hawaii Island Recovery.

Questions that need to be asked to find out if you’re an addict

How many times a day?

One important question to ask about your own addiction is if you are consuming more than what you actually need in a day. This is a common occurrence for prescription pills and other drugs that need a doctor’s signature. However, another substance that is often over abused is alcohol. Once you find that you are going past the prescribed number of pills a day, or you start sneaking drinks at work, then you might be an addict. It goes beyond any explanation. There is no excuse that you can share that makes it any better. The seclusion that is offered at Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island Treatment Program, gives you time to contemplate. However, when you’re stuck in a busy place, it only amplifies the problems.

The consequence

Consequences involving you and too much usage usually involve you finances. As well as that, it also involves your reliance on a certain substance as well. You soon find yourself seeking out more and more sources to coax that substance out of. You empty your wallet, soon enough, your ATM account and so on until each paycheck is not enough to maintain you anymore. Once that happens, you’ll find that you can’t even function without at least one hit in your system everyday. This is actually a major sign in addiction diagnosis which doctors and counselors always try to find.

Has someone finally showed their concern?

Now on one side of this question, you may be the one asking the questions towards a loved one. However, if this does apply to you and someone is expressing concern then maybe it’s time you think about what you’re doing with your life. It’s never easy to think about what mistakes you ever did. And the actions you’re taking right now, well, they have some heavy personal consequences. As well as that, you’ll find that even your family will be in trouble. This is the key that most addiction treatment centers will tell you about. Hawaii Island Recovery’s treatment center program uses this to help them as well.

The consequences

Sober recovery has been described by those undergoing it as the most difficult part of an addiction rehabilitation program.

It takes place when the withdrawal, medication and the counseling have been done over the weeks of the program and the client is ready to leave the Hawaii Island Recovery’s Big Island rehab or other treatment facility.

Sober recovery is difficult because the client is now expected to make decisions for himself about his substance-free life, without outside therapy or medication. What makes it more difficult is that it occurs in the real world, where the addictive substance is as accessible as it was before the treatment program began, and the client is re-entering his normal life where he encountered the substance of his choice. Finally, sober recovery is a continuous process that will last for the rest of the client’s life as struggles to reject falling back into addiction.

The experience of post-treatment recovery is different for everyone. Some get through the day with plenty of support and love from their family and friends. Others have to make it by themselves as their addiction have ripped through their marriage and turned their kids into strangers. It is therefore useless to ask other former addicts and people in your support group what you can expect in your own sober recovery. Some former addicts may only have a slight run-in with addiction and will suffer only little, if at all. Others have been long-time serious cases with a traumatic background that caused them to seek comfort in vice. Still others may have recovered completely but have not address the mental issues behind the addiction and are as unstable as ever. Some have only undergone a treatment program once while others a recurring clients for years.

What are similar for all post-treatment individuals are bouts of depression during the initial stages of the recovery. Some are caused by the absence of the addictive substances in the system and are lingering, long-term withdrawal symptoms. Others are realizing the pain they have cause others and the destruction they caused themselves and are reeling from the shame, knowing the years they spent achieving their lifestyle disappeared within weeks during a substance high. Still others are symptoms of a deeper psychological issue that was the original cause of the addiction. Finally, depression can be cause by the loss or reduction of mental, physical or sensory component in the body that was caused by repeated exposure of the addictive chemicals in the brain and other organs. Whether slight or severe, depression can interfere with the recovery process and need to be addressed.

Another common malady is early post-recovery treatment is poor concentration. This is especially noticeable during attendance of group therapy, when individuals aren’t fully cooperating with the activities or responding to queries from others.

A good way to counteract the effects of depression and poor concentration is making an active effort in participating during group sessions. By distracting the brain from negative thoughts through active participation, the mind not only exercises the components involved in concentration but there is less build-up on negative energies in the system. By also accepting these feelings as a normal part of recovery, former addicts can put their thoughts into making progress of their condition.

Another aspect of sober recovery is getting used to schedules. First of all, there are the 12-step meetings that occur daily, which takes getting used to after months of care-free living and weeks of disorienting treatment. The good news is that 12-step meetings are commonplace and occur regularly in many cities. Those who cannot physically attend meetings can go online and search for Web sessions.

There is also the need to search for a sponsor, a person who can assist during the transition to recovery. Part guide, part monitor and part information desk, a sponsor is a former addict who has successfully conquer his personal demons and is now willing to help others in their difficult journey. However close a client feels for his sponsor, he must remember that the latter is not his therapist, a certified expert in addiction recovery. Seeing a therapist is now also part of the regular schedule.

Scheduling all these different aspects of recovery can be made more difficult when the client has to re-insert himself to his old life and duties, which include family time and work. It is important to talk with the spouse about fitting in the schedules. Spend a few weeks modifying and polishing the schedule and how the meetings, sponsor and therapy fit in home life, work, recreation and other duties. Remember to ease into a full schedule slowly to avoid the stress and succumb into frustration and depression even further.

Recovery also means changing a previous lifestyle to avoid the temptations of falling back into addiction. That means that unsavory friends, places and habits must be abandoned in place of cleaner elements. Switch from bars and clubs to cafes and gyms for distractions. This will make it easier if the craving hits and there is no access to substances to assuage it. It will also make it harder to miss the old lifestyle and the happiness associated with it. There is also the danger of overconfidence, in which the ease of transition will lead to complacency. Skipping schedules, revisiting old habits and even a momentary lapse to substance abuse can all quickly descend to addiction once more. Recovery is all about never letting down the guard against relapse and weakness. Continue attending meetings, as the support they bring is crucial when facing crises.

There will be some moments that are worse than most, when the cravings are particularly acute, or when bad events happen and the urge to succumb is strong. When personal discipline fails during these moments, it is up to the sponsor and the group to provide strength to overcome these bad moments in life.

While therapy, sponsors, support groups and loved ones can make a great deal of difference throughout sober recovery, it is the person himself who has to make the decision to follow through with attending meetings, seeking counseling and avoiding temptation. Every day is a struggle and while relapsing and re-entering treatment is possible, the difficulty of repeating the process still exists. Remember to celebrate milestones of recovery, such as the first-year anniversary of clean living, with friends and family to reinforce the positive results of long periods of struggle and sacrifice. This will help by having to look forward to something after another year of recovery.

There are many types of addiction: drugs, alcohol, gambling, sex and even money. But drug and alcohol addiction affects millions of people all over the world. They are two of the top 10 addiction that people of all ages get addicted to. The ease of access to a drug and alcohol and the pressure to use these substances are what drive people to get addicted to them. Addiction evaluation is very important in the treatment of the addiction. Addiction evaluation is the discernment of how much an addiction affects a person. There are certain questions that must be asked an addict and that must be answered in an addiction evaluation. In order for the addiction evaluation to be successful, an addict must answer the questions truthfully and honestly for a doctor to determine the best course of treatment.

Drug and alcohol dependency are among the many types of addiction that affect millions of people all over the world every year. The financial and emotional costs of addiction can devastate individuals and families. Drug and alcohol addiction can be very costly. But the emotional costs generated by addiction are far more costly than the financial costs. The emotional costs do not only affect the addicts but their families as well. Living and interacting with a drug addict can be difficult especially when he exhibits mood swings and other kinds of behavior that are otherwise not normal.

Drug and alcohol addictions can lead to dependency, where an addict can no longer function properly or do his chores without having first a dose of the drug or alcohol. Being an addict entails significant psychological symptoms that should not be ignored. Addiction evaluation includes asking questions about these symptoms so that the best course of treatment can be formulated. People who continue with their addiction do not think if they are hurting other people along the way. They contemplate and think of their addiction but are powerless to do anything about it.

Drug and alcohol addiction and other types of addiction are curable. The addict must be willing and cooperative for the treatment to be effective. Assessment and evaluation of the addiction must be done both by the addict himself and by a professional. To make the addict realize the damage the addiction has done to him and his loved ones, he must evaluate his situation and the consequences of continuing his addiction. It is not hard to do an addiction evaluation.

Here are some common questions that must be asked in an addiction evaluation by the addict himself.

1. Has anyone – a friend, family member, doctor or colleague – been concerned about your use of substance or behavior?
• This question in the addiction evaluation wants to know if anyone has voiced his opinion or concerns regarding the addict’s alcohol dependency or drug addiction. Feedbacks from the addict’s closest circle are just normal. They try to help the addict to get rid of his addiction.
2. Have you been hurt or have you hurt anyone else physically as a result of using drugs or alcohol?
• Physical injuries to addict himself or to other people cannot be avoided during episodes of use. The brain is muddled with negative thoughts and the body’s functions are impaired as a negative impact of substance abuse.
3. How many times have you forgotten the events of the previous night because of your drinking and drug use?
• Excessive intake of illegal drugs and alcohol muddle the mind, so it is common place to hear an addict tell someone that he doesn’t remember what happened the previous night.
4. How many times do you feel any guilt, remorse, shame or embarrassment because of your drug and alcohol abuse?
• An addict usually feels these feelings after he has taken drugs and the high or euphoria has worn off. It is usual for drug addicts and alcoholics to feel guilty about their substance abuse but do not do anything to get rid of their addiction.
5. How many times do you need to take drugs or drink alcohol in the morning when you wake up to feel energized for the day?
• There are instances when an addict has to take drugs or drink alcohol first thing in the morning so that they can go on with the day feeling energized or pumped up.
6. How many times have you disappointed family members, colleagues, friends and bosses have because you were not able to do what was expected from you?
• Substance abuse occupies the mind and activities of an addict. It is normal for an addict to not do the things that he is supposed to do either because he is too preoccupied with his behavior or he forgets his chores.
7. How many times have you realized that you cannot live a day without taking the substance?
• When a person gets hooked to a certain substance, he channels all his energy towards obtaining it. And when he is unable to do so, his behavior changes.
8. How many times have you taken the substance in one single occasion?
• An addict sometimes has to take the substance several times a day to satisfy his cravings.
9. How many times in a given period do you take the substance?
• This addiction evaluation question is somewhat related to the previous one. An addict has to take the substance several times a day or week to be able to sustain his addiction.
10. Do you have to have a stash of the substance at the ready?
• To make sure that he does not run out of the drugs or alcohol, an addict has to have a backup supply in his home or office so that anytime he happens to crave for some, he does not have to go out and buy.

These drug and alcohol evaluation or drug and alcohol assessment questions in the addiction evaluation are very important towards addiction recovery. Treatment programs for drug and alcohol addiction are readily available. The recovery of an addict is not an easy road to take. He will have to suffer sacrifices and setbacks, sometimes relapses, to fully recover. Addiction evaluation by the addict himself and by an addiction expert is the first step towards recovery. Cooperation and willingness of the addict are what’s needed in order for him to get well.

There are many causes of drug and alcohol addiction, and each of them must be determined so that the best course of treatment can be offered to the addict. Each case is different – from the causes of the addiction, behavior of the addict to the treatment that is suitable. But addiction evaluation is the one constant thing that must be done in order to determine the addict’s behavior and also to prescribe the best way to treat the addiction.

Addiction treatment can be done in a residential treatment facility. Alcohol evaluation and addiction evaluation are totally confidential. A treatment facility releases its diagnoses and recommendations after an addiction evaluation. These initial diagnoses and the succeeding diagnoses after that are essential for the evaluation and treatment of the addict. Early intervention of the families of addicts is crucial for the prevention of the addiction.

There is no doubt that there are literally boundless types of drugs that can be bought and abused in the country. The act has cost the country billions of Dollars and continues to do so per year. How can drugs be such a huge problem in the country when there are other things that you should be worries about? Believe it or not, an illegal drug trade makes billions of Dollars annually while you have to pay for the fight against it with your taxes. Other than that, death is more closely related to narcotics than you think it is.

One of the biggest problems in the United States is the high percentage of drugs that are being circulated. Mostly everywhere you look, there is sure to be an area where a percentage of drugs are the problem and there are addicts with substance abuse problems. Over the past two decades, there has been an increase in the distribution of drug paraphernalia as well as illicit narcotics in North America. While some are manufactured in the country, a percentage of drugs are brought in from other countries. Compared with the percentage of drugs and usage over thirty years ago, today’s present drug trade and dependency has seen an alarming rise.

In 2007 alone, there was an estimate that illicit drug use cost the United States over $193 billion. A percentage of drugs were divided among cocaine use, crystal meth, heroin and the illegal distribution of opiates such as morphine. This drug abuse data is very bad for the economy and combined with the percentage of drugs used by addicts, the statistics make for a very bad problem. So how are drugs distributed in the United States? As mentioned, some types of substances are manufactured in illegal laboratories. Drugs such as heroin and crystal meth are created in meth labs by drug syndicates and criminals. Another percentage of drugs are brought in from other countries such as Mexico and certain countries in Asia.

The reason why so there are so many narcotics brought in from other countries despite the risk is because of the high demand and consumption among addicted individuals in the United States. The drug problem cannot be blamed on a single cartel alone and the percentage of drugs which are abused can also be blamed on the addicts who buy the narcotics with utmost frequency. So why are a percentage of drugs more abused than others? The answers can be explained on the effects they give and how easy it is to get them. A drug such as meth can be easily obtained by any addicted individual who knows some dealers. It may come as a surprise to you, but drug dealers are everywhere and they are enablers that can be found even right down your street. Meth is an illicit drug that has mind-altering effects and gives the feeling of euphoria to an addict, as well as eliminating certain needs such as food and sleep. Other than that, the drug is also quite affordable which makes it even more enticing to most addicts. A growing problem with the percentage of drugs that are manufactured in illegal labs is when the possibility of the person creating it can contaminate the drug with other harmful substances. When addicts use tainted narcotics combined with the effects itself, the harm done is significantly increased.

Another percentage of drugs commonly abused are heroin, which is considered to be among the top abused drugs in the country. Like meth, the drug is also highly addictive and can be easily acquired by an addict who has the means. With a conducted survey, adolescents and teenagers in the United States have been exposed to drugs in one form or another. An astounding report that almost a quarter of all children aged 12-17 have been offered drugs or used them are also a large part in the percentage of drugs problem in the country. The frightening fact is that the percentage of drugs that were offered or sold occurred within school property. There is an estimate than among all the percentage of drugs users, death is one of the common denominators with the disease. Death can come in the form of violence, accidents and even complications as well as health consequences from prolonged drug use.

On the other hand, a percentage of drugs users also seek treatment for drug abuse. By their own admission, the drugs have ruined their lives and seek positive changes. However, an estimate of the number of addicts who seek improvement is overshadowed by the alarming increase of new addicts themselves. A percentage of drugs facts include that a majority of the inmates in prison estimates that the crimes they perpetrated had something to do with drugs or its influence on the criminals. Though it is quite disheartening to see how the conduct of an individual changes when he is addicted to drugs, it is what it is. The use of a dangerous percentage of drugs will lead to unspeakable acts that often land one in the hospital, in jail and even the mortuary.

The fact is a percentage of drugs result in the death of thousands of addicts per year. Those who use needles for drugs such as morphine and heroin are often exposed to diseases such as Hepatitis C or HIV. Of course, this comes from the use of dirty needles and contaminated narcotics. Other drug-related deaths have been through overdosing on a percentage of drugs or the accidental excessive use of a certain narcotic. Then, you have suicides which are also related to drugs. Most prolonged drug users often fall into a deep depression spell which leads to suicidal tendencies. Finally, the most unspeakable causes of death that is related to drugs are through violence. The war on drugs is not with government against the trade, but also with gangs pitted against each other. Often, it is the innocent bystander who gets harmed when a percentage of drugs gangs fight for a turf or get violent when deals go sour. It may be the kind of thing that you only see in movies, but it is a reality for many Americans across the country.

There are also a percentage of drugs that is also a huge problem and that is the abuse of prescription drugs. While the act is not as obvious to that of using needles and pipes, prescription pills and its abuse is also a cause for concern. Approximately six million people since 2004 have abused prescription medication at home. While the act itself may not be as atrocious, it is still a problem that persists and needs work on.

Addiction is a very serious problem that the society has faced for many decades now.

Family roles and addiction go hand in hand. Family members play a role in one of the member’s addiction to either alcohol or drugs. When a family is dysfunctional, each member assumes different roles to cope. Usually, a family that takes on certain roles suffers from some form of addiction, like drug and alcohol addiction. Although it is not determined that the family itself causes addiction, the family members and their roles contribute either to the wellness of everyone in the family or the deterioration of the relationship among the members. Family roles and addiction must be determined so that the appropriate action will be taken to make sure that everyone in the family can cope with everything that happens within the home.

Family roles and addiction are closely related to each other. How is this so? Drug and alcohol addiction are just two forms of addiction that afflicts the society, including the family. It is said that the family is the smallest unit of society. Although drug addiction and alcohol addiction do not necessarily start within the family, each member plays a certain role. Family roles are assumed for the members of the family to be able to cope with the problems that the family is facing, and this includes addiction. Codependency happens when the family members make decisions regarding what other members of the family need, and not only their own needs.

Alcoholics usually develop their alcoholic behaviors from people around them. In alcoholic families, there is usually an alcoholic parent, or both. An alcoholic’s behavior is governed by alcohol. People get addicted to alcohol because of the short-term pleasure it gives. People who live in a solitary world or live quiet lives usually turn to alcohol and drugs to feel emotionally numb.

Drugs have chemical components that are to blame for an addict to become chemically dependent. A drug addict develops a dependency to the drug and drug addiction recovery is needed to treat the addict. Help is available in different forms, and families must be involved in the successful recovery.

Addiction is the most common reason why family roles are assumed by members. Here is a list of the most common roles that each family member assumes in the midst of a family situation, specifically an addiction among a member or members of the family. These roles lead to codependency.

• Addict. This is the member of the family who has the problem, either a drug addiction or alcohol addiction. He uses lying and other negative behavior to cover up his addiction. He makes it appear as if other members of the family, and not him, have the problem. His emotional behavior shows no problems at all. He has no connection to family and often does not know of the negative consequences of his addiction. He becomes dependent on the substance. The addict covers his emotions and lets them take control over his life to cover up for his addiction. He may be asked to be treated with his addiction and may have refused to do so, agreed but was not able to cope in rehab or just denied that he has a problem.

• Enabler. This role can be in the form of a parent, a spouse, a sibling, or even a friend who tries to help the addict. The enabler constantly makes excuses and denies that the addict has a problem with his addiction. He ends up helping the addict obtain more drugs or alcohol, or both, without realizing that what he does makes the addiction worse. Even in himself, the enabler denies that his loved one is stricken with an addiction that is hard to overcome. An enabling behavior exhibits efforts to keep the family in balance, making sure that everyone is alright, even if it means blocking out the real issue of addiction in the family. Enabling behaviors are those that try to control the situation by doing some things that the addict approves of. These enabling behaviors try to appease or satisfy the addict.

• Scapegoat. The scapegoat is one of the components of family roles and addiction wherein the member of the family who is considered the scapegoat is the one who makes troubles, grabs the attention to the family just so they will not divert the attention to the other member who is the addict. Most of the time the scapegoat does things which are not good for the addict, like diverting the attention of the parents from seeking medical help and intervention for the addiction recovery. The family members distract from the addiction by putting all the blame to the scapegoat. He is considered to be the black sheep of the family because of the troubles that he causes, often misleading other members that the real problem-maker is the addict.

• Hero. The hero is the exact opposite of the scapegoat. He is the one who achieves, does good things, and generally takes away the issue of addiction by being an achiever. The hero is usually the eldest child. He does his best by doing good deeds but does not get the recognition or attention that he desires. In fact, heroes in the family resent what they do. The hero refuses to acknowledge that there is an underlying addiction problem within the family. He frequently has feelings of fear, shame and guilt because of what he does to cover for everyone in the family.

• Mascot. This role often brings light and humor to the whole family. The mascot uses humor and fun to mask the real situation that is going on in the home. He does this to cover up feelings of guilt, shame and embarrassment. He generally keeps the whole family sane, and makes them forget of the problem they are facing. Sometimes the mascot goes overboard with his funny behavior but the family lets him be so that the real problem of addiction is masked.

• Lost Child. The lost child is just that: lost. He is the member of the family who becomes invisible in all the happenings. He is seldom considered for opinions in the family. He goes with the flow, never making any trouble and not diverting attention towards him. This role may have serious implications in the long run. When the lost child keeps up with this role for a long time, he may find it hard to detach himself from being the lost child of the family. He may find it difficult to become his own person when the time comes to get rid of the role because he has become so used to being invisible and not being recognized.

Family roles and addiction can both be overcome. When the addiction to drugs, alcohol or other addictive substances is addressed and treated properly, the roles mentioned above can be eliminated as well. When there is no more problem of addiction in the family, there will be no more need for these roles to cover up for the issue of addiction. Family roles and addiction go hand in hand. Each will not be gotten rid of without first getting rid of the other. For family roles and addiction to be avoided altogether, it is important for everyone in the family to be open to each other, including opening up regarding their problems, especially if they are as serious as an addiction.

When family roles and addiction are overcome, other underlying situations like codependency are overcome as well. When there is no more addiction in the family, codependency to other members are no longer needed. Each member can already decide things on his own will. To keep family roles and addiction away from the family, constant communication and moral support are paramount.

Unfortunately, many people manifest their failure to face stress and the demands of everyday life by falling into the trap of addiction.

It is vital for addicts to understand where their negative thoughts and destructive habits are coming from. This is how most drug treatment centers differ. Some rehabilitation centers concentrate mainly on the individuals negative behavior and fail to provide more attention to exactly what truly causes their depression and altered thinking.

The most effective treatment is one which makes it possible for the addicts to deal with their agony and voice their feelings. Executive rehab center goes one step further by allowing the addicts to direct their deep emotions toward a more inspiring strategy.

There are seven senses that evaluate data in a person’s environment, and these deliver equivalent information to the brain. When addicts come to be more responsive to their senses (sight, smell, touch, taste, hearing, balance, and inner sensations), they at some point recognize that they can’t feel their thoughts. They learn that their depression and negative thoughts are nothing but physical sensations.

By paying close focus on what they sense from their surroundings, addicts are able to find the source of their stress. They discover that each time they get worried, their thoughts send signals to their brain. It is actually not the thought that they are feeling but their bodys response to the bodily sensations induced by the thought itself.

This is how it works. When a person begins to be anxious, he directs a thought of which the brain recognizes as a risk. The brain subsequently transmits signals to the body to protect itself by releasing chemicals such as adrenaline and cortisol. The body reacts appropriately to the information sent by the brain, signals which are often induced by the ideas of a person who started stressing.

By knowing this, addicts realize the importance of paying closer awareness of what they sense from their surroundings. They learn how to manage their thoughts far better in order to avoid the possible body reactions that may trigger their anxiety and depression. It is this kind of addiction recovery process that sets executive rehab center a part from the rest since it is where addicts learn how to be much better linked with their own humanity.
